A couple who spent several thousand pounds to bring a cat they found at an Egypt hotel back to England are said to be ‘heartbroken’ after the ungrateful feline has done a runner.

Railton and Dawn Elliot, who run their own confectionery business in Oxfordshire have offered a £25 reward and a lifetime supply of chocolate to whomever can shed any light on the disappearance of ‘Omar’.

The couple ‘fell in love’ with the moggy when staying in the hotel and believed him to be abandoned by owners fleeing the country that was due for political uprising and civil unrest and made it their mission to bring him back safely to the UK.

But, after shelling out thousands on vets bills, taxis, flights and quarantine fees for Omar, it seems he didn’t fancy spending a minute longer than he had to with the odd couple.

But, unphased by his apparent lack of appreciation, the couple have now started a campaign in an attempt to bring him home, by plastering their neighbourhood with flyers and posters.

Dawn told the Telegraph;

“We’d give anything to have him back. He’s such a lovely and friendly creature.”

Something tells us Omar doesn’t feel the same way…
