The Host comes to cinemas in 2013 (Trailer)
The Host by Stephenie Meyer has been adapted for screen by Open Road Films, the trailer premièred at hundreds of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 screenings around the world this last weekend.
For those of you who don’t know what the book is about, you should read it before the film is released early next summer. The story follows the life of Melanie, played by the phenomenal Saoirse Ronan, one of the last members of humanity who are resisting an alien invasion. She falls in love with Jared, (played by Max Irons), but is then captured by Seekers and implanted with a Soul called Wanderer. Usually, humans fade away, but Melanie is determined to stick around. Affected by Melanie’s deep feelings for Jared, Wanderer falls in love with him too, and they set off away from society, consumed by the need to find the man that they both love.
The Host is one of my favourite books, and I think that it will take very well to screen. I am very excited to see it. With this and the City of Bones coming out next year, 2013 is looking to be a good year for science-fiction and fantasy films – perhaps one of the best since the end of Harry Potter.
