A woman in Sweden has been accused of inappropriate behaviour with human remains.

The 37-year-old could be imprisoned for two years for “disturbing the peace of the dead” after police found six skulls, a spine, body bags and pictures from a mortuary in a hidden compartment at her Gothenburg flat.

She claims to be innocent, and the police have found no proof that she is a gravedigger. However, prosecutor Kristina Ehrenborg-Staffas told The Local newspaper;

“Some of the photos showed a woman licking a skull.”

It seems she took the phrase ‘skeletons in the closet’ quite literally.
