1987 The birthday of rap/popstar Ke$ha, who will be 26 today. She rose to fame with her song ‘Tik Tok’ back in 2009.

1994 Quite a few musicians birthday on this day’. Today will be a night where Twitter goes mental for sure, for it’s the birthday of the love/hate teen popstar Justin Bieber, who will reach 19.

1998 Titanic became the first film to gross over $1 billion worldwide. It is now grossed over billion worldwide, being the second film to do so (the first one being Avatar).

2006 The English version of Wikipedia reaches its one millionth article, which was the Jordanhill Railway Station. But it still unreliable for essays kids!

Today is also Beer Day, which celebrates the end of prohibition of beer in Iceland in 1989.

1954 Colour TV sets approved by the National TV System Committee are sold to the general public for the first time.

1984 Michael Jackson won a magnificent 8 Grammys in one night due to the album ‘Thriller’.

1996 The Grammys again, but this time it would be the band Kiss (with the original members) that would be making the headlines. They appeared for the first time ever in their full make up and costumes.

1932 One of most famous actresses Elizabeth Taylor was born on this day. The entire media mourned her death on March 23rd 2011.

1981 Today is also the birthday of the singer Josh Groban, the famous American singer for singing West End songs. However most of us would know him for appearing on a lot of British panel shows.

1992 Golfing Hero Tiger Woods is declared the youngest ever PGA golfer at just 16. He is still now probably the most famous golf player of all time.

1564 The birth of one of Britain’s most famous playwright and poet, Christopher Marlowe ; the second most famous after William Shakespeare. His most famous play was Dr. Faustus, a doctor who sells his soul to the devil for power and knowledge.

1916 Charlie Chaplin was signed for a film contract by Mutual Film Corporation, which resulted him in becoming the highest paid actor of all time.

1932 The birth of legendary singer Johnny Cash who went onto record 1,500 songs and was placed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

1962 The first day of filming Dr. No, the first ever James Bond movie, starring Sir Roger Moore. The franchise celebrated it’s 50th year last year with the ‘Skyfall’.

1983 Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ went to No.1 in US Album Chart. It would end up being the biggest selling album of all time, with over 50 million copies sold.
